The Problem:

Coffee is threatened by climate change causing green coffee growing regions & supply chains to be increasingly disrupted & threatening your morning brew. The growth of green coffee fuels deforestation, releases carbon emissions and consumes water. Atomo doesn’t want to compromise on great tasting coffee or impact on the planet. So, we created a new coffee option.

The Solution:

Atomo upcycles our main ingredient by rescuing date pits from farmers’ waste streams. Giving food waste a second life enables us to preserve precious environmental resources. By using farm grown upcycled and superfood ingredients, we have created a lower impact coffee option and are building a more resilient circular food system. Atomo is crafted with love for the planet and love for coffee—but without beans.

Why It Matters:

Coffee agriculture and processing is highly energy intensive. 1 day of global coffee consumption creates 900,000 metric tons of Co2 emmissions - the equivalent of powering 177,000 homes for a full year. By significantly reducing the energy required and upcycling agricultural waste, Atomo is making a significant impact in the world of sustainability.

Behind the Science:

We searched the planet for more sustainable, farm-grown, and upcycled ingredients containing the same compounds found in a traditional coffee bean. We invented a process to reconstruct the same 28 compounds to make sustainable beanless coffee that tastes great, is better for the planet, and keeps the same brewing process.
